SRI LANKA (April 22, 2019) – The Central Board of the United Action of Indonesian Muslim Students (PP KAMMI) strongly condemns the terrorist acts of bombings that occurred in several places in Sri Lanka, on Sunday, April 21, 2019.
“We strongly condemn the bombings that have taken place in churches and restaurants in Sri Lanka. This is a humanitarian tragedy that must be opposed by all parties” said Chairman of PP KAMMI Irfan Ahmad Fauzi, through his media statement on Monday (April 22, 2019).
Irfan hopes that the perpetrators of the bombings that killed 207 people and hundreds of others were immediately arrested. So, the motives of the perpetrators of such savage actions soon can be known, he continued.
“Hopefully the perpetrators can be immediately arrested, so that their motives can be awared. Whether or not this is related to the international terrorist network or not. We believe that anyone who commits such abusive acts has nothing to do with religious teachings, especially Islam” added Irfan.
In line with Irfan, the same thing was also conveyed by the Chairperson of the Division of Foreign Affair of PP KAMMI, Ibadurrahman. According to him, in a war, even though Islam forbids to damage the religious places of worship of other worshipper.
“Even in the war, Islam strongly prohibits damaging Christian and Jewish religious places of worship. I do not understand what kind of thoughts are held by the perpetrators of the bombing,” said Irfan.
On Sunday (04/21/2019) Sri at Sri Lanka’s times the bombings occurred in several places i.e. church and also five-star hotels.
Until Monday morning, it was reported that 207 people died and hundreds were injured. The Sri Lankan authorities have also arrested several people who were allegedly involved in the action.
“To the families of the victims, we are sorry for the incident. The international community must jointly hold hands to fight acts of terror like this,” Ibadurrahman concluded.
